New Witcher game confirmed. Probably what nobody wanted or was expecting but I like the sound of it!

For a while I was looking forward to this because I loved their gwent game and played it for months, that was until they fucked with the things that made it a unique ccg and messed up the balancing beyond belief. It got to a point that was so bad that I believe they said they were going to re-do the whole game from scratch, that was last I heard. They might have fixed it up now, since I haven't played it for a couple months and this might be the game to get me back into it.
I absolutely loved the Monster decks, then Scoia'tael and lastly Nilfgaard. The Skellige and Northern realms decks can go die in a hole somewhere.

I loved Gwent in TW3 though. To the point I had to find every single card and beat every single fucker that would play me.

Yeah I know the feeling. I was just like that witcher 3 gwent meme
Well if you ever do get back into playing gwent (and hopefully they fixed the balancing problems,) I will say that for a ccg, I found it to be very generous. I was easily able to build up a free complete collection in a couple of months. I've never actually played any other ccg before gwent but I've heard that most rape you for money if you want to stay competitive.

I quite enjoyed what I did play of it. I just tend to put my gaming efforts into long arse games like TW3 or Pillars of Eternity, and everything else sinks into the backlog.
I used to play Hearthstone (Blizzard's World of Warcraft based game) but lost interest. Not really familiar with WoW anyhow.
Thronebreaker is a good incentive to get back into it. What was the issue with the balancing problems?

Usually the game did pretty good with strategy but for a while Skellige was on top and was practically impossible to beat by every other deck, that was until they over nerfed Skellige into trash tier.
However the absolute worst was when they added a card that created a card and it even allowed you to create spy cards. You'd play a spy, then your opponent would play a spy, then you would mirror their spy so you would get two and they would do the same, then they would create a spy and so on etc. I think I've seen a deck with 4 spies, maybe more. Hell, even if you didn't want to play that way you had to, or else you would get stomped with all the spies they would pull out of their ass.
Then most of the factions started getting similar abilities, so the uniqueness disappeared and with that the strategy went down the drain. To top it all off there was also the added bonus of too many rng elements and bronze card power creep.
What was once fun and made you think or even play mind games with your opponent just became a frustrating rng fiesta. The good thing is that CDPR said they realized their mistakes and will re-do the design. I'm hoping that when I get back into it with thrownbreaker I'll rediscover my love for it.

The adventure game isn't rated very well among players. Hopefully this one turns out better. It looks neat anyway.

Thanks for the tag! I recently just started downloading it now. I've been so busy lately and I won't have time to play until after Nov 1st. Anyway since they deleted all of our previous decks (but gave our scraps back) I was spending most of the other night just making all of my cards again.
I've heard good things, that there are multiple decisions to make which will lead to different endings. I'm pretty excited as I honestly didn't expect that much from a simple card game.

I just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying my thronebreaker progress. The game has beautiful artwork, story and voice acting and Queen Meve is a bad ass female character done right. None of her companions are degraded in order to raise her up...Disney should take note.
So far I've made a couple of decisions that bit me in the backside, so I'll be looking forward to starting another game once I'm done to see the different outcomes. Especially since there are different endings.
If someone doesn't like gwent, it might disrupt the flow of the story for you, since that's what all the battles and puzzles are. However I was told that if you put the game on easy, you can skip the card games if you lose once. I'll have to test it out later.
The game also doesn't hold back in showing how ruthless the Nilfgaard empire is and I'm quite happy about that. I felt they didn't show enough of their atrocities in the witcher 3.

I've been busy to the point I didn't even know it was out yet. There's been a lot of disappointment about this game, particularly in the Gog community. They're almost as whiny as BSNers..

There's been a lot of whining about it on reddit as well. I'm going to take a guess that their whining has more to do with how the game works now than complaints about thronebreaker? If it's just about the cards, then truthfully I can understand where some are coming from. I played through most of beta and while it's true that the mid winter patch was terrible, there was a real fun chess aspect about beta (before that patch) that seems to mostly be gone atm. Homecoming imo has removed some of the more complex card flavor in favor for simple "damage this card", "boost this one".
In beta, gwent was also a lot more consistent for a card game. The consistency of decks led to a lot of amazing card combos, outmaneuvering/smarting and bluffing your opponent etc. In beta gwent, it really felt like you earned your win and when you lost, it felt like you only had yourself to blame.
I don't think homecoming is bad though and I like some of the changes. I'm still trying to re-work decks and figure things out with it but Thronebreaker itself was written exceptionally well imo.
