Onecrazymonkey1 How do you like seasons 1-3? Been thinking about starting that one and The Expanse. I've had both on my watch list for a while yet haven't bothered to touch either one yet. I thought the first 2 seasons were the best and while I didn't find season 3 as great as the first two, I still enjoyed it and thought it had some very memorable moments. Season 4 on the other hand was terrible, and I didn't expect it to be so directionless, sloppy and completely ridiculous. I'm starting to hate it more than GOT's ending. However with all that said, I always tell people to find out for themselves as you might even love the last season. Not to mention they make literal communists the heroes of the story.

Started on the second season of Babylon 5.
You know, naming a science ship the "Icarus" was just tempting fate...

Expanse is the greatest show still running now. I recommend it more than anything else. Next week will be fun. Also looking forward to The Witcher. I tried my hand at The Mandalorian and I actually really like it. It's shot and paced like a real Star Wars property while being relatively original and having interesting characters. As I have said before, I'll never pay for Disney Wars but this is worth a watch if you might be interested in a Star Wars property that isn't anathema to the series' core. I like the music, character design, lore, and Pedro Pascal is a pretty good choice for a lead.

So I've been watching Outlander on netflix and I'm on season 3, enjoying the show so far. The leading guy is lovable and really easy on the eyes, although at times he seems like an unbelievable bit of female wish fulfillment (especially for the 18th century). The female lead is obviously kind hearted but at times her hissy fits when her 20th century values are threatened can grate on the nerves, especially when it often causes a lot of danger to the people around her. The acting is good though, and the costumes, action and story are quite fun. Idk the romance might be a bit of a bodice ripper though lmao.
I'm also going to give a fair warning that episode 15 of season 1 is very disturbing to watch.

Watched the first few episodes of The Expanse. It's good. Love Drummer and Amos, and happy to see they are in it a lot so far. Burn Gorman, you are such a baddie again. Shohreh Aghdashloo is still gorgeous and every time I see her I think of Admiral Raan and want to start another Mass Effect. Just got to say you can't leave Amos behind, go get him! That's as far as I've gotten in the series.

Yeah I think Amos's character development has been well handled, I really hope they don't stuff around at all with his storyline on Earth. It will also be interesting to see how they incorporate his Origin story if they do at all, I really enjoyed it and that and the earth story arc for him made him my favourite character. I really don't like Naomi's new hair style!!!!! Drummer is SO hot and I love her personality/humour/character as well.

So finished watching The Expanse a couple of nights ago, this is my favourite of all the books except for "Tiamat's Wrath" but I thought this season was let down by prior decisions to remove characters and the impact that had on this seasons storyline, in particular Naomi's role.
Also certain parts of the books plot (some to accommodate missing characters) were changed, as were parts of the plot of Bobbies Origin story that appear in season 4. Certain parts of the storyline were shrunk reducing the import or tension and impact which was a shame. Also I didn't like the recasting of Avarsarala's husband the new guy really doesn't fit the character of Arjun in the books.
I am going to re-read the book then watch the season again because so many little things are nagging at me and I can't remember them all.
That said it was still good fun and I enjoyed it, very much looking forward to next season.

For anyone wondering about the witcher series, it has been pretty good so far. I don't think it's perfect and I do feel there are areas it can improve on but it's enjoyable. The best part about the series are the actors, they're all doing an amazing job. Cavill actually surprised me at how well he portrays Geralt and has that dry humor and charm, but the diamond here is Yen imo. Yennefer has always been my favorite character in the books and witcher 3 so I was worried about her the most, well those worries are gone because Anya plays her to perfection. The fight choreography has also been exceptional and brutal, and the only fight scene I didn't care for was the very first one with the kikimora (it just looked weird). Fighting the Striga in episode 3 and Renfri and her men in episode 1 were probably my favorites so far.
Now the problems I have with the show so far have been some overuse of cgi that can look strange at times and some of the costumes (not all) being a little lower budget. The pacing can also feel wonky on occasion but that might be due to all the years and information they're trying to condense into only 8 episodes. I did feel like Renfri and the fall of Cintra should've had their own separate episodes, but hopefully season 2 is longer.

Finished watching The Witcher. Enjoyed the series and looking forward to season 2. Also enjoyed they way they weaved the timeline together, going back and forth. The supporting cast was well cast and believable in their parts. Jodhi May was fantastic as always. Agree with Onecrazymonkey1 that the fight choreography was exceptional and Cavil did a great job there. Wanted to like Cavill's portrayal but he fell flat for me and he seemed awfully stiff and wooden and his voice was grating. Ended up not really caring about Geralt but caring about the other characters. Guess that is the same with LOTR, not caring about the miscast Strider. Missed Doug Cockle's superb voice over and CDPR artists version of Geralt (anyone of the games). Thought at times they portrayed Yenn as too much of a bitch which I didn't think she was in the books and games. Maybe that's just me. The costumes could have been much better and sexier for the mages. Yenn outfits were a bit big on her and her eye makeup should have been black.

Witcher Netflix review. WILL CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS
The Witcher was pretty damn good overall. Not a fan of them butchering everything about Fringilla nor Yenn's contributions to the lukewarm rendition of Sodden Hill but Cavill and the guy who played Dandylion knocked it out of the park. Still some rough edges with the storytelling and some costumes as well as makeup for many of the elves. In regard to story, it was pretty hard to tell the chronology of the episodes' events until about episode 3 or 4 and I've read some of the books and played the games. Mousesack was well cast and I'm iffy about Vilgefortz although the actor portraying him is well suited to that character type. Not sure if they did him dirty or not as time will tell if he was really that dumb or just playing up the events of the battle. The use of black magic was really oddly placed and almost cartoonishly evil. I'm hoping they don't go that route for Nilgaard. Triss was alright at best but would have been better suited if the actress who portrayed Renfri and her swapped. Blaviken was great and exactly how I'd expect a witcher to fight against thugs. Poor Johnny Lee, lol.
One of the biggest offenders however was Brokilon. The dryads were pretty badly done and then there's the issue of its placement in the story at such an unremarkable time. I almost hope there's a return to the forest. Yennefer was very well done and the actress who played her won me over. It's like she studied Witcher 3 Yen for her portrayal. Having said that she was a bit overdramatic at times and the concept of magic in this series was just incorrect, especially the glamification of the sorceresses. If they put more effort into the sets and garments and tone down the unnecessary "diversity" casting while also tightening up the plot then it will be a hit. There's already a ton of buzz still surrounding it as this series has overtaken The Mandolorian in overall interest.
