I've been revisiting the Mass Effect Trilogy, finished ME1 and am currently on ME2. The graphics still hold up quite well, especially in 3's case and the games' individual strengths are brought to the forefront. ME1's sense of wonder and discovery; ME2's darker tone and exposition, that feeling that "this is the side of the galaxy people try to hide from you"; ME3's message of getting free of bad history in favor of preserving a better future and its score. Amazing how they all released in the same console generation yet there are so many improvements with each game. The set pieces get bigger and comparing ME3 and 2, its clear to me now that ME3 definitely looks better. Perhaps its my TV bringing that out. I'm more of a fan of ME3's gameplay too though ME2 was easily the most challenging. It required a slower, more methodical pace and proper placement and utilization of the squad. I the first game, it was slightly more formulaic but due to its adherence to more traditional rpg elements, disabling the enemy was more important than straight up DPS. In ME3 my squadmates are just there unless I'm playing an Adept. Shepard as a Vanguard is a monster. Sharp contrast to ME2 where while high in damage output was very risky to charge in most cases. Soldier in ME2 with Mattock was lol worthy. Even the geth armature on Tali's recruitment was easily toppled. Reposted Discord tech.

No matter what game I play I'm always comparing it to Mass Effect and I always have a Mass Effect 3 image on my desktop.

I still play all three every now and then, but I don't import one profile to the next in the series like I did originally. I've got several Shepards for each title and I just replay those whenever I do play. I played ME1 not too long ago using the MEUITM texture mod. It improves a lot. I think there's one similar to that for ME2, but I haven't tried it yet.

Unfortunately, my whole trilogy collection and save data is on the PS3, so no mods for me. Currently on ME3's first phase; I got Javik as soon as he was available, rescued Grissom Academy, and paid Cerberus a visit on Sanctum. Next up is to meet with Turian/Salarian/Krogan diplomats to start the Tuchanka arc. I find myself lacking the same enthusiasm I had in my ME2 and ME1 runs now. Part of it is that playing a Soldier in ME3 is tough at first, and the other half is the fetch quests and constant running back and forth between the Citadel and everywhere else. Not to mention I hate the DLC missions or just find them redundant. Too many out of character moments from Omega and Citadel DLC (even if the latter is meant to be fanservice) and while I appreciate the effort put into some of Leviathan's gameplay, the enemies are more of the same, and the Levis themselves are about as relevant as that Cerberus data from ME2 in the "Find Lost Operative" mission. I like to meta game and play into my Shepard as a character, so I'll keep going. I'll always love the Tuchanka and Rannoch missions as well as the side missions dealing with Cerberus bases.

I simply can't pick up the trilogy again. Even the first one, knowing how it all turns out.

Honestly don't care about the ending, I play it so that I can hang out with the gang again.

I last stopped at the beginning of the Tuchanka arc, only did the related N7 mission (Firebase Giant) so far. Then I got sucked in the multiplayer vortex. Very little desire to really go back to the story for the moment but I'll try again soon.
