Iakus, are the white gorillas possessed by demons or super intelligent? They do seem to be intelligent, At least intelligent enough to have a language. Though they are very very primitive. No fire or tool use. Whether they have anything to do with demons or not we don't know. Further exploration may answer that.

Well, it's been a few weeks, but some of my group was available to get back together. After resting up, we went and made contact with those four-armed apes. This time our wizard had Tongues prepared and was able to actually talk with them. As a gesture of good will, she offered to have us teach them how to make fire WITHOUT using her as a living pinata. And so the party ranger (me) taught them how to properly use flint and steel to ignite tinder, and to build that up as a proper fire. We also gave them some flints and strikers. We were then dubbed "fire friends" Here's hoping this little Prime Directive violation doesn't come back to bite us Once everyone was friends, we asked about any other teleportation circles in the area after describing one, their silverback indicated that yes there was one nearby, but wouldn't show it to us because it was in the territory of the "green ones" The description he gave made these creatures sound like centaur-like reptilian beings sophisticated enough to use weapons. They don't sound like anything we have encountered before. While pondering this, we asked for and received permission to explore the "stone hill" ie the pyramid in their territory. THe pyramid appears to be partially collapsed on one side. Either through weathering or something busting out of it (hopefully the former) The top also had an altar of some sort, and posts on three ofthe four sides (the fourth one was destroyed in the partial collapse. After a lot of poking around and skill checks, we found that altar might be movable. And the posts could be shifted. The barbarian discovered that by moving the posts closer to the the altar, the altar itself slowly rose until a small hole was exposed. A rather steep, narrow passage led into a hidden portion of the pyramid. My character volunteered to go looking, tied to a rope. About thirty feet down (which is beneath the pyramid itself) the tunnel leveled off to a staircase slick with damp mold leading into a larger chamber. After getting the rest of the party (and clearing away the mold, in case we had to make a hasty departure and didn't want to risk slipping) we came to a large room. In the center was a throne of some sort, and behind it a large demonic-looking statue. The DM used a balor mini for it, but told us that rather than a sword and a whip, it had a sword and hammer. As we moved further in to explore, there was a cracking sound beneath our feet. Looking more closely, we saw the room was absolutely FILLED with bones. Human bones for the most part. buried several layers deep. Given the size of the room, that meant there were likely tens of thousands of bodies in here! The throne was on a raised dais that stood above the bones. And in addition, there was a magic circle in front of it as well. The wizard identified it as a focus for rituals that change one creature into another type of creature. Perhaps the origins of the apes and the green ones? Or perhaps, given the nature of this room, something fouler, like creating nightmares and black unicorns? Or both? The demon statue also detected as magical, but we called it for the night before examining that too closely.

Cool, I'm glad to see that this thread survived the move. I know that this is somewhat off-topic for this thread, but sadly I don't play DnD currently, only Chronicles of Darkness ("Mage: The Awakening" specifically). So here's an oopsie story from our campaign: So basically, we are playing a Cabal of four awakened Mages. A female Necromancer with mood swings (she alternates between a the sincere "good girl" and a raging "I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL WITH ZOMBIES AND EAT YOUR SOULS...", her Vice is Wrath, so...). A Space/Mind Mage who used to live in wall-mart (a hobbo basically), he's a voyer, he's able to read your mind, control your thoughts, and teleport when needed. Also, he's gay. A Fate/Time mage who's sort of like a gypsy. She's a thief and a trickster but overall reliable when she is on your side. And finally my character, a Forces/Prime (his domains are fire, lightning, gravity, light, sound, energy, truth, raw magic, and some other fun derivatives) Mage. He's a Private detective, and a bit of a paladin. Also, rather socially awkward. There's some budding romance between him and the Necromancer. Anyway, awhile ago our friendly hobbo calls his friend from hobbo days, Mark. He's his best friend, a bit of a soul mate really. He just wanted to call and tell him not to worry about him if he doesn't see him in the near future (we are being hunted currently by evil left-handed Mages, no, not literally left-handed... :-P ). However, when Mark (the friend) answers the phone, he starts shouting and cursing and tells our hobbo friend to never call him again. Our hobbo friend was concerned to say the least, so we did what Mages tend to do when something makes no sense to them, we used magic. We tried to use scrying to find out what the hell was going on with his friend, because something sounded distinctly wrong about that conversation. Surprisingly enough though, something was blocking our attempts, which is rather concerning in itself, since not many things are capable of interfering with Magic, and those that are are usually bad news. Eventually we managed to circumvent whatever was protecting him from scrying with a luck-based spell our Fate-Mage has cast, the purpose of the spell was to guide us to him. And it worked. Kinda. We made our way to a bad part of the town where we found a "smack shack", an abandoned building used by druggies and mafiosi for... recreation. We talked to one of the druggies and heard some concerning stories from him, apparently every once in awhile "Death" is coming to this place, it comes and takes some of the druggies, sometimes they come back, other times they don't... The surprising part was, apparently "Death" looks a lot like Mark... *insert dramatic sound effect* We managed to find out that whatever was going on, there was a secret entrance inside the building, hidden with what we could only assume was magic. It took some time and effort, but we finally managed to find the secret entrance, it was literally a hole in the wall, beyond that hole everything was completely dark. We decided to be brave (and foolish) and step into the darkness. My character entered first and used magic to increase the light in the room. As the room became lit we found out a couple of important things: 1. We were surrounded by a large group of thugs, two of them were absolutely huge, AND a couple of vicious looking dogs. They were armed with firearms and assorted melee weapons. 2. Under that system, if you cast an obvious magic in front of a "sleeper" (non- mage who is unaware of the supernatural) there's "Paradox". This phenomenon can lead to a variety of different effects, all of them nasty. And my character definitely felt that after going all "Let There Be Light". The first thug aimed a shotgun blast at one of the of the mages, but my character's took exception to that, so he deflected the blast in the direction of the shooter's face. Unfortunately, there were too many of them. My character was protected with layers of magical armor, but that didn't prevent the dogs from dragging him down to the floor. A few turns later, the Mind-Mage was down after he received a tire-iron to the head, and my character was debating going all-out, Paradox be damned. And then our Fate/Time Mage decided that he had a better idea, so gathering his power he pushed as hard as he could (in game terms that simply means a lot of potential Paradox to deal with, which could kill someone), and jumped back in time a few minutes. We all found ourselves back in time, about the enter the dark hole in the wall, when our gypsy Time lord tells us (via telepathy, courtesy of our telepathic hobbo): "Guys, we need to get the hell out of here." Unfortunately for us, this didn't prevent all potential issues, because the thugs inside the dark entrance saw us coming, and since we didn't bother to disguise ourselves they saw our real faces. We didn't know it at the time, but we just stumbled unprepared into a coven of highly territorial Vampires. Our troubles were just about to begin.

Nothing really all that unique thus far in Cyberpunk. As the game is currently in the middle of a restructuring following a total party wipe after they tried to raid a Hispanic Gang Stash House and got shot to shit via a collection of Cartel Enforcers armed with Pistols, Subguns and Rifles.
Still in Cyberpunk 2020 as all know who have played it, its easy come, easy go, there is a reason character takes less then thirty minutes per character for people who know what they are doing.

Does you team know if they used the teleportation circles and if they have gone inside the stone hill? Don't go near the demon statue and don't break your party into 2 groups - LOL.

Does you team know if they used the teleportation circles and if they have gone inside the stone hill? Don't go near the demon statue and don't break your party into 2 groups - LOL. We haven't seen any sign of spellcasting from the apes thus far. They appear to be intelligent, but very, very primitive. Like Stone Age primitive. They seem largely ignorant of the pyramid. Frankly, they wouldn't fit in the entrance we did find. This week we mainly looked at the magic circle in the room. It was determined we should try to destroy it, since it's unlikely any magic worked down here was what one could call "benevolent" Then the circle started glowing. Our wizard dropped a Dispel Magic on it right quick and the barbarians went to work smashing the thing. Then the chair/throne thing next to it just to be safe. Or maybe because barbarian We also checked out the statue, but learned very little. One interesting detail we noted was that the statue had its own base. And the whole thing was put on top of the pedestal. Like it replaced something that was there before. We dug around the skeletons to check the base and found a scar on it where some kind of plaque had been torn off. No sign of what happened to it, and it would be a major undertaking to clear away the bones to find it. Assuming it was still around to find. One thing that could have proved frightening was when we went back to the passage to get out of the pyramid: The altar had been replaced. And even with both barbarians pushing, it couldn't be lifted (they didn't really have good leverage) The wizard and the ranger (me) both checked the walls and floors for any other possible exits and came up empty. We did, however, find that the chamber we were in seemed to be much older than the pyramid up top. Something to possibly investigate later. The wizard then burned some charges on a wand to evacuate us back to the teleportation circle we knew of outside. It's hard to trap us if we're determined to leave Afterwards we questioned (well, the wizard questioned, with a Tongues spell) the spokes-ape about the "stone hill" and the altar. He didn't seem to know what the hell we were talking about. So maybe the apes trapped us there. Maybe we set off a trap without realizing it. Maybe the thing was on a timer. Who knows? Anyway, we asked him to take us to the "green runners" he mentioned before. He pointed out a trail and led us partway down it, but refused to go with us to meet them. Before long, we heard lizardy-sounding voices. The party druid cast a spell to keep us in stealth as we approached cautiously. Well, all of us but the wizard, who went forth (again, with Tongues up, but at least with a Mage Armor as well) declaring "We come in peace!" Eight centaur-like lizard people arguing over a fresh kill turned on her and proceeded to attack with axes and bows. The rest of us fought them off, but we can see now why the apes don't want to deal with them.

In other news, it looks like my Ravenloft campaign will be kicking off in about six weeks, give or take. I'm busily taking player backstories and trying to weave them into the module.

Heh, I remember when I played DnD, at one point we went through a dungeon and almost got TPK because of a pit-trap of all things... (it didn't have an HP bar = we couldn't win...)
Right now though, in our Mage game we're going through a dungeon as well, first trap was a pit covered with illusion magic, only our werewolf almost fell through. Second trap was a spear that almost skewered someone, and then turned into mustard-gas when we tried to pull it out of the wall and use it as a weapon...
I guess we're lucky that it wasn't nerve-gas...

Getting the group where I'm a player together has been spotty the last few weeks. But tonight, we take on TWO green dragons at once!

So my group: We've learned through a few random encounters that this is a very weird land. In addition to the four armed apes and lizard-centaurs, we have encountered (and fought) A pack of jaguars with vipers sprouting from their shoulders, and a four-armed gargoyle that attacked anything that entered its clearing. We did learn from the apes of another ziggurat in the area. But they refuse to show us where it is because "a god" lives there. A monster as big as a hill that kills all who encounter it. Obviously, we want to meet this being One of the apes pointed us in the direction and off we went. After traveling for most of a day, we got jumped by a pair of enormous gorillas. Not King-Kong big, but more Mighty Joe Young size. They didn't seem intelligent like the four armed apes, they just attacked us and put up a hell of a fight. After defeating them, we decided to rest as it was getting late and we used up a lot of resources. During the night, though, we heard the roaring of a MUCH larger ape in the distance. Making us wonder if the two we fought were just kids. The next morning the party ranger (me) noticed a large creature flying in the distance. VERY large. He used his Primeval Awareness ability to search for dragons. He found not one but THREE nearby. This piqued everyone's interest, so we veered off from the ziggurat to check this out. Sure enough, we soon homed in on three green dragons. The ranger also detected a huge beast of some kind nearby as well. As we neared the spot where teh dragons were, we saw an enormous boulder go flying through the air, swatting something out of the sky. Followed by a crash and roars. We soon encountered, not a clearing, exactly, but a part of the jungle where a lot of trees have been smashed flat. It was there that we encountered the dragons. It was hard to tell at first how many there were, because one of them (the largest, it seemed) had literally been torn to pieces. The other two were also wounded. So being the heroes we are, decided to finish them off. Wounded or not, they were still dragons. Fortunately one of them could no longer fly. The barbarians dealt with that one while the ranged characters sorta kited the other one around. That one escaped while the other was dispatched. It was also during this fight that we met Ria. Ria was an elf who was part of the crew for a saurian ship. It was attacked by sahuagin, and she managed to escape with her life and ended up on this island (this is the first we heard that we were on an island) She's been on her own here for years. During her time here she found an amulet/holy symbol for Sehanine Moonbow, elven goddess of the moon, knowledge, and death. It seems this symbol put her in contact with the goddess, who speaks to her and provides visions. Ria has developed clerical powers as a result. Yes, this was a way to introduce a new player to the group Through magical and mundane means, the ranger was able to track the surviving dragon back to its lair over the course of a day or so. Fighting said dragon in its own lair was perhaps not the smartest thing we could have done, but you know, headstrong heroes. As we entered the cavern, the dragon put up a wall of brambles cutting off Ria and Kobi (the party wizard) from the rest of the party. Kobi was able to Dimension Door the two of them through the wall, but nearly dumped them in the underground river running through the cave as a result of jumping blind (this would have been bad because the dragon was lurking in the water) The barbarians proceeded to splash about in the water trying to find the dragon. One of them almost used a Javelin of Lightning to blast it "I'm gonna catch so many fish!" was the phrase he used. But saw others in the water too and refrained. The ranger stayed on the shore, sniping at the dragon as parts of it became visible. Finally, Ria through a Fairy Fire spell at it, illuminating the dragon for all to see. The fight went MUCH more smoothly then, since everyone could properly target it. Between spear, hammer, bow, and spells, the dragon went down. We found some loot, but as escaped slaves, coins and jewelry don't mean a lot to us. The Necklace of Adaptation is handy though. Ria also took some silver to make a silver-shod quarterstaff. Rabbit (my ranger) also took some dragon bones as trophies and for my backup character to use as augury bones. Next week, we go back to finding that ziggurat.
