Tv series is okay. But the books are better. That's not surprising, one of the few adaptations that I enjoyed over the original was The Shawshank redemption but that's pretty rare for me. I'll probably end up reading this series eventually. One thing I will say: They claimed the show would be "Game of Thrones in Space". Well, James S A Corey is further along than GRRM is. The books have been coming out pretty reliably and the penultimate one was just released this year

This was a great comic series. There is something major missing from it but it might appear in S2. It's still a great show.

I'm also watching this. It's kind of interesting. Also, it does trans "right". Sure, you can tell the person is trans at a glance but it's not a "thing". It's never discussed in any way. Rather than tell us how she's trans it's just an observable fact but insignificant in relation to the character.

Katee Sackhoff is great as always.

Watched the pilot episode to Babylon 5 for the first time in years.
Special effects hold up pretty well given it's from 25 years ago. But man some of the acting's kinda cringey. Still a great show though.

Okay, I watched Another Life. Started out pretty interesting. The premise is certainly worth a look. But after a couple of episodes I just wanted to smack every single member of the crew.
Niko and William were the only ones who seemed to have brain cells to rub together and by the end of the show I wanted to smack them too.
You know how one of the complaints about MEA was that the Pathfinder's team all seemed like a bunch of college kids on a road trip? Yeah, these guys went "hold my beer and watch this!"
Wouldn't mind a series that expands on the events happening on Earth though.

Finished Amazon's The Boys' first season and my god it is possibly the best show on now and until The Expanse returns Amazon's best by far. It's not shock value schlock like the comic tends to be but more in like with Watchmen and a little Coen brothers dark humor thrown in. The acting is great all around and Homelander is perfectly cast. Comes across as a total douche but has just the right amount of charm to be believable as a good guy to the public. Many of the characters are obvious ripoffs but the plot doesn't take it too seriously. If you're looking for a good example of subversion or are into comics and want something without the redundancy of the MCU's non-Netflix productions, this is the perfect show for you. HBO's Watchmen will have great trouble topping it.

What you said and too much interpersonal drama and in-fighting. Nico should have gone in strong at the first meeting, her downfall was going in soft. The team needed professionals that weren't on a school field trip. Thought the show would be more about exploring the area and then finding out why the alien artifact was on Earth.

And a second in command who's Plan B is "Mutiny!" when the captain's unwilling to go along with his Leeroy Jenkins strategy...

This was a great comic series. There is something major missing from it but it might appear in S2. It's still a great show. Loved it, the Deep was great. But it's a shame Hughie isn't Scottish. At the least I think they could have made the Simon Pegg dad character Scottish so that Hughie would have an excuse to say Jings.

Can't wait for season 4 of the series to come out, 19th of December I think. Onecrazymonkey1 did you end up watching all 3 seasons or start the books? What did you think?

Re the TV show, I think this series will be a good indicator as to how they proceed as its very different to the other books IMO but it is also one of my favourites. I wonder if they'll shorten the whole "Free Navy" story arc, that was a bit hit and miss for me. Except for its impact on Earth it was really just a big back story for Naomi IIRC. I need to watch the first three series again, struggling to remember where series 3 ended and I didn't like that they wrote "Bull" out of it. Did they write "Tilly" the multi-billionaire woman out as well?

The whole "Free Navy storyline wasn't my favorite. But otoh, everyone on the crew had their own pov story there, so I can't really think of how they'd be able to shorten Nemesis Games much. But then, they managed to pack the entirety of Abaddon's Gate into a half season, so who knows?

The Bobbie thing is intriguing, I saw something that said that it may just be that she's on the ship on the way to being dropped off somewhere, maybe on Mars to do a side story of her personal story in the origins Graphic Novel. Otherwise I think it will way throw the political power and brute force balances out between Amos and McMurtry in particular on the planet.

I decided to start with the show first so I could just enjoy it on its own merits. I did purchase the books but I’m sitting on them for now. Anyway, I’m finished and I’ve enjoyed it so far, I’ll probably re-watch it again before the new season comes out. The physical differences between humans that lived under different conditions was interesting and as far as characters go, bobbie ended up as one of my favorites. Most of the characters were well written though. Idk maybe it's just me but I actually find the cgi in this decent, while in other series it tends to annoy me. I’d say it has made it on of my favorites list and will probably remain there as long as it doesn’t pull a GOT ending.... <.< I’m not exactly sure why Syfi canceled this but I’m glad Amazon saved it.

Bobbie's become my favorite after Alex. When she's on screen something awesome is usually happening, and it tends to be painful for somebody. Alex just keeps the moral center and lightens the mood.

Yeah the CGI is great, I can honestly say I never really notice it at all. It's definitely one of my favourites and as long as they stay true to the books of which there are already 9 with a 10th and final to come then unless the last book is terrible they shouldn't experience a GoT ending. I am not 100% sure but what I have heard is that the contract with SyFy didn't allow streaming and the creators wanted to reach a bigger audience and not be dependent only on viewers willing to lock into a single time slot each week, so therefore SyFy wouldn't renew the show. Or something like that, perhaps the cost of production was too much as well.
