Iakus, That actually looks pretty cool. Is this based on a book or something?

Iakus , That actually looks pretty cool. Is this based on a book or something? Apparently not. It's an original story (or as original as anything that comes out of Hollywood anymore) But it's been kicking around in development hell for the last twenty years.

Seeing Avengers: Endgame tonight. Recently saw Shazam and it was a lot of fun. Family-friendly and bucked the trend of grim and gritty DC movies.

Why competitive streaming services aren't a real marketplace. I'm not sure this is true. DC's streaming service is, as I've heard, struggling. CBS doesn't have enough content to support it. I think consumers will ultimately want the services that offer a wider range of content. Netflix is the strongest in that area. Hulu is decent. Prime needs some work. It has some really good stuff but most of the rest include some of the worst movies out there imaginable.

I think I stand by my previous comment. Hulu I could probably drop with little problem. It does have more access to television shows than other streaming services but my main draws are Runaways and, more so, The Handmaiden's Tale. Probably not enough to keep me around. Prime has about two shows, which are The Man in the High Castle and the Expanse. Also not enough to keep me around long-term. Neflix is another story entirely. They pump out a lot of content that I really enjoy. If I had to whittle down to one service, it would be this one. HBO Go? Why bother when I can watch it on television? Disney+? Sorry, but the Marvel and Star Wars movies are going to reel me in.
I don't believe streaming services are going away and I have no doubt that the one with the most original content wins. As far as monopolies and oligarchies go, how is that different from network television? The network owns the rights to those shows but will lease reruns out for syndication because they run so frequently that they make money for them. I'm sure they get a cut of the advertising revenue so why not?
When you get down to it, streaming services behave exactly like network television except for the cost. Consumers will pay for it IF the content is there to make it worthwhile.

OK, saw Avengers: Endgame. Not as SJW as I thought it could be but there was a seriously feminist scene, Captain Marvel is an egotistical bitch (not from that scene) and one particular part at the end that makes zero sense for a couple of reasons. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the movie. A lot of emotional content if you've been watching the movies. Bits of setup for the next wave of the MCU but nothing major.

I don't know if you watched the video or not, but at the beginning it goes into the stats that piracy is rising after it had been falling for a while. I think they got a point. If the exclusives don't go away, nobody is going to buy all these services and they're going to pirate instead. That's just these companies shooting themselves in the foot. If "exclusives" fade and the services have fairly equal content - then they get judged on advancement in features instead of exclusives. Then the best service wins. That's just a bit from the video, but I agree with the premise.

I can't even do that with stuff that interests me more on YT. Yes, I think best service wins. Don't think Disney, CBS, Prime or Hulu have it.

Finally watched it. 8/10 everything was excellent except the main villain's logic (stupid). The movie totally touched me emotionally Now only Black Panther remains b4 watching Infinity War. Maybe I just skip BP, I don't know.

OK, saw Avengers: Endgame I finally got out to see it last night. Wasn't bad. Could have been worse, could have been better. There were a few scenes/moments I really liked others I was pretty "meh" about. All in all a satisfying way to end the MCU. At least the end for me most likely, aside from more Deadpool I'm not terribly excited for anything else they have coming down the road.
